As the summer season approaches, Air Algérie has launched a special rate aimed at families, which it has called Osra and which includes “significant reductions” on plane tickets.

In its latest communication on social networks, Air Algérie explains that it launched this offer “specially dedicated to Algerian families” as part of its “citizen commitment” and this to “improve air transport conditions”.

Osra Promo: Air Algérie details and defends its offer

Concretely, the Osra visa offer allows families to travel together, at reduced prices. “The “OSRAH – Family” offer will allow families to travel together on the same round-trip flight with the same reservation number,” writes Air Algérie in a press release detailing the promotion.

Reservations, indicates Air Algérie, are available from April 22, for trips between June 1 and September 30, 2024, specifying that the offer is available within the limit of available places.

“This offer includes significant reductions on ticket prices ,” says Air Algérie, in response to criticism of the prices revealed. Regarding prices, Air Algérie reveals that they start from 22,500 Algerian dinars for flights departing from Algeria to abroad and €168 for flights from abroad to Algeria.

The company gives the example of the Tunis-Algiers-Tunis flight which it lists at €168 and the “ticket price from Marseille to Algeria which is €199” as part of the Ousra promotion.

Apparently, the prices displayed as part of the “Usrati” offer are low. But for some families, the budget remains substantial. “€199 for Marseille-Algiers plus the return ticket, so it’s a minimum of €400 per person, if we multiply x 5 it’s way too expensive for a family fare,” underlines a user in the comments.

Criticism also concerns the booking method for the Osrati promotion. Tickets are not available online, which constitutes a real handicap, especially for Algerians abroad.

The Osra offer soon available online, according to an MP

Faced with criticism, the deputy of the Algerians of France, Abdelouahab Yagoubi, often on the front line on air transport issues, stepped up to defend Air Algérie.

In a post on his Facebook page, the parliamentarian assures that he has received several positive testimonies about the access of Algerian citizens living abroad to the “Osra” offer, particularly in France and the United Kingdom. For example, a family of 5 members paid £1,100 for their London-Algiers return ticket in the middle of summer, he said.

“Please do not fall into excess (of criticism) ,” he asked Internet users, noting in passing that this offer finally allows travel at “correct prices” and that “putting sales online “tickets are in progress ,” he says. The MP did not provide a time frame for the availability of online sales. Air Algérie has not yet communicated on the subject.
