According to the Guardia Civil press release, the investigation began when the agents detected a vehicle suspected of transporting and introducing drugs to Melilia through the port of the enclave, vehicle inside which was discovered a double bottom in the trunk with 15 kilos of high-purity cocaine.

The criminal network was led by two brothers, one based in Morocco and the other in Granada, who was on the run from Moroccan judicial authorities for leading a drug trafficking organization.

Together, the brothers had organized a double process of distributing the drug: the first involved receiving cannabis resin from Morocco via speedboats or pleasure boats, while the second began in the Netherlands and Barcelona, where they bought cocaine and sent it to Morocco via Melilia.

In its statement, the Guardia Civil also indicated that 14 searches were carried out in homes located in Melilia, Granada and in the Barcelona towns of Martorell, Rubí, Terrasa and Gélida, where the Guardia Civil located a laboratory with the necessary equipment. to process and package the drugs in question.

The 21 detainees were then brought before the courts for alleged offenses against public health, falsification of documents and membership of a criminal organization.
