The Super Eagles of Nigeria will on Saturday, November 12 take on Algeria in the matchday two of the qualifiers.

The 1st Vice President of the Algeria Football Federation (AFF), Abdelwahab Djahid Zefizef had a guided tour of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Algeria.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will on Saturday, November 12 take on Algeria in the matchday two of the qualifiers.

Ahead of the clash, Zefizef on Thursday, October 13 was led to a tour of the stadium by the Deputy General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Dr Ikpeme.

The AFF wrote the NFF, requesting to inspect the stadium ahead of the clash in November.

The Super Eagles will face Algeria on Saturday, November 12 (NFF)

Works have commenced at the stadium in line with the NFF’s promise to get the Akwa Ibom State Government to work on the turf.

This action was taken after Super Eagles players complained about the surface of the stadium after their 1-0 win over Tanzania in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

NFF wrote to Governor Udom Emmanuel to a request for renovation which has commenced.

An NFF inspection team, led by Ikpeme and including Assistant Director (Technical) Siji Lagunju and Chief Sports Officer, Sunday Okayi had another tour of the stadium on Saturday, October 15.

Hon. Monday Uko, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Youth and Sports and the Commissioner for Special Duties, Engineer Etido Inyang were in charge of the tour.

A second inspection has been fixed for Tuesday, October 25  while the final inspection will come up on Wednesday, 2nd November 2016.
