For about two years, Morocco has been increasing the import of drones in a context of tension with Algeria and Western Sahara, which it considers to be an integral part of its territory. He bought drones from several countries such as China, Turkey, France and Israel, constituting a real fleet, probably the most developed in North Africa. But the ambition of the Cherifian Kingdom is no longer limited solely to purchase. Indeed, with the help of Israel, Rabat seeks to produce drones on its territory.

According to the military agreement signed last July between the two countries, Israel is committed to transmitting the manufacturing technology of this weapon of war to Rabat.

With the assistance of Tel Aviv, these drones will be manufactured at a lower cost on two Moroccan military bases. This will soon integrate Morocco into the club of drone manufacturing countries. It will also be the only African country to produce it.

These Moroccan-made drones will be able, according to Israeli military sources, to carry out surveillance missions, collect intelligence from a distance, but also attack and participate in combat. According to several specialists, they will be able to make the difference during a possible armed conflict.

Morocco has been accelerating its armament in several areas for several years. He recently used drones in Western Sahara to target Polisario activists and sometimes Algerian or Mauritanian civilians who were in the buffer zone.

Drones allow Morocco to benefit from a high-performance, state-of-the-art tool that has proven its effectiveness in conflict zones around the world.
