Morocco-Switzerland: Towards a Strengthening of the Economic Partnership

Guy Parmelin, Swiss Federal Councilor, and head of the Federal Department of Economy, Training and Research, accompanied by a large delegation, visited the Institute of Aeronautical Professions and the site on Saturday industrialist of the Sabca company.

Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Commerce, received, on Saturday, October 14, in Casablanca, Guy Parmelin, who was accompanied by a large delegation made up of senior officials, businessmen, and Swiss scientists. This meeting is part of the working visit to Morocco by the Swiss delegation, the objective of which is to learn about the progress made by the Moroccan economy and the economic opportunities offered by the Kingdom of Morocco.

During this meeting, the two parties examined ways to strengthen their economic relations as well as prospects for bilateral cooperation in several areas both in terms of trade and investment.

Mezzour highlighted Morocco’s numerous assets, its competitive advantages, as well as the numerous investment opportunities and the particularly advantageous offer which results from the industrial strategy put in place by the Kingdom and which has made it possible to create a dynamic local industrial sector, while giving the country its position as an international hub.

He recalled, in this regard, that Morocco has a competitive industrial base in which international leaders have found a long-term growth driver, the necessary infrastructure and human resources, as well as a conducive business climate, in addition to the opportunities offered to Morocco in promising sectors including automobiles, aeronautics, textiles, the pharmaceutical sector and even renewable energies.

The minister invited, in this regard, Swiss companies seeking competitiveness and wishing to strengthen their growth and increase their capacities to address new markets, to take advantage of this dynamic and the numerous opportunities offered by the Morocco destination.

The Swiss delegation subsequently visited the premises of the Institute of Aeronautical Professions (IMA), set up as part of a public-private partnership, to provide tailor-made and personalized training in order to meet the needs of needs of aeronautical operators in qualified resources (technicians and middle managers) and promote the integration of young people.

The Swiss delegation also paid a visit to the Sabca company, specializing in the manufacturing and assembly of aerostructures. The Swiss delegation was able to see, through this factory, the remarkable progress made by the national aeronautical industry. As a reminder, the Pilatus and Sabca groups signed, in August 2021, a major contract relating to the near-final assembly of the “pc-12” business jet (best seller of the Swiss aircraft manufacturer PIlATUS) in Casablanca .
