Morocco is postponing the suspension of flights from France to Sunday, November 28 at 11:59 p.m., the Foreign Ministry announced Thursday evening on social networks.
The flight suspension was supposed to come into effect on Friday 26 at 11:59 p.m.
This additional period is intended to “facilitate the return operation of Moroccan citizens and foreigners residing in Morocco”.
However, it is not mentioned by Moroccan diplomacy that this extension also concerns flights leaving for France.
The announcement of the suspension of flights provoked a wind of panic in particular for the Moroccan diaspora which is on vacation in the Kingdom, and for those who had planned to go there in the coming weeks.
On social networks, many of them question airlines and elected officials to find out what to do next.
The French authorities have still not reacted to this announcement but should, in all likelihood, as during periods of confinement, organize repatriation flights to allow the French to return to the country.
As a reminder, this suspension decision was taken “in order to preserve Morocco’s achievements in terms of managing the Covid-19 pandemic”.
Morocco thus wishes to protect itself “in the face of the deterioration of the health situation in certain countries of the European neighborhood”.
The suspension will be maintained “until further notice”.
