Morocco: Regragui Acclaimed in Algeria!

During the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) U17 which took place on Friday in Algeria and which opposed Senegal to Morocco, the coach of the Atlas Lions Walid Regragui was warmly welcomed by the Algerian people despite the existing diplomatic tensions between the two countries.

Regragui, strongman of the Moroccan selection who made an exceptional career during the last World Cup , was present as a guest of honor to attend this CAN U17 final between Senegal and Morocco. Even if these are only young players (under 17) not yet old enough to claim a place with the A’s, it gave him the opportunity to spot the nuggets of tomorrow and assess the state Moroccan training.

Just before the start of the match, which took place at the Nelson Mandela Stadium (40,784 seats) in Algiers, the Algerian fans showed an exemplary attitude towards him, greeting him respectfully and even cheering him on. Beyond the historic sporting rivalry between Algeria and Morocco, this scene, which may seem innocuous, nevertheless reminds us that sport can transcend political barriers and constitute a fine example of fair play and fraternity.

The Cubs of the Atlas overthrown

In this 100% Cub duel, it was the Senegalese players who won (2-1) against the Moroccan troops .
