Three days before Burkina Faso – Algeria match for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, and which will be played on September 7 in Marrakech, the Moroccan sports authorities seem determined to reserve a royal welcome for the Algerian selection, despite the political crisis which shakes the two neighboring countries.

Indeed in a statement repeated this Saturday, September 4 by Moroccan media, the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) Fouzi Lekjaa affirmed that the Algerian football selection, expected Monday, September 6 in Morocco, in anticipation of the match in Marrakech against Burkina Faso, will be entitled “to a welcome at the height” and will have the “best conditions” of stay.

Burkina Faso – Algeria: Morocco Wishes to Offer the Best Possible Conditions

“We have done everything possible to put the Marrakech stadium back in better conditions and offer our Algerian brothers a pleasant stay,” said the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation Fouzi Lekjaa, taken up by the Moroccan site Fesnews.

“We also instructed everyone not to search our brothers from the Algerian delegation, just as we asked them to avoid the slightest minute delay when traveling and especially during their training sessions”, adds the boss of the FRMF.

“The Moroccan people, the Moroccan Federation, and all Moroccan sports facilities are available to the coach of the Algerian selection Djamel Belmadi and his players,” adds Fouzi Lekjaa. “I declare on my honor that I would watch over the security and serenity of the Algerian selection as I did with the selection of my country,” he promises.

“Non-sports issues do not interest us,” says the president of the Moroccan Football Federation, who has avoided addressing the political crisis that has shaken the two neighboring countries for a few days. “I am at Djamel Belmadi’s disposal and I hope that he will inspect everything himself, and if he finds something that he does not like, we will immediately take the necessary measures”, continues Fouzi Lekjaa.

The Assurances of the General Manager of the Algerian Selection

As a reminder, the general manager of the Algerian football selection, Amine Labdi, assured last Tuesday in a statement to the official website of the FAF that “everything is already ready” concerning the stay of the Greens in Marrakech for the match of September 7 against Burkina Faso.

“Our trip to Morocco was just a formality because everything has already been done by internet: hotel reservation, catering, and transport”, explained Labdi on the sidelines of Monday’s training session, carried out at the Center technique of Sidi-Moussa (Algiers).

As usual, the FAF sent this leader as a scout a week ago to prepare for the stay of the national team in Marrakech on the occasion of the second day of the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup, in Qatar.
