“Thanks to its geostrategic position, Morocco plays a key role in inter-regional trade. It serves as a bridge between the Maghreb, West Africa and the rest of the continent,” Nedelcovych told MAP on the sidelines of “Frontier 100” forum of the Initiative for Global Development (IGD), which is being held on October 4-5 in the U.S. capital.
The head of the IGD highlighted the growing presence of Moroccan companies in the rest of Africa, especially in francophone countries, noting that service companies are well-established, notably in the sectors of banking, real estate, insurance and telecommunications.
The economic strategy developed under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI towards the African continent, positions Morocco as a regional hub in other various key areas, including food security, infrastructure and renewable energy, he added.
Created on the initiative of former US Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and Colin Powell, the IGD is a non-profit organization that drives poverty reduction by catalyzing business growth and investment in the developing world.
It brings together an influential network of senior executives from sector-leading companies with the interest and capacity to make strategic investments in high-need and high-potential areas of Africa.
The Forum is held twice a year in the United States and Africa.
