Morocco-France: Relations Strained Since the Pegasus Affair

Relations between Morocco and France have remained strained since the latter accused Rabat of having spied using Israeli software Pegasus on several French personalities including President Emmanuel Macron.

French prosecutors said they had opened an investigation since July, after the publication, by the network of journalists Forbidden Stories, of the results of an investigation which revealed that the mobile phones of several officials in France and other countries were spied on. help from Israeli software, Pegasus, says Middle East Monitor.

The network had directly accused Morocco of having spied with this software these personalities including President Macron, the former Prime Minister, Edouard Philippe, and 14 French ministers. Since then, relations between the two countries have cooled.
