Morocco, which won on Tuesday against the Democratic Republic of Congo (4-1), qualified for the World Cup in Qatar. Despite its draw against Mali in Radès (0-0), Tunisia also won its ticket thanks to its success in the first leg (1-0).

Morocco easy against DR Congo (4-1)

This time, Morocco never trembled. After a complicated first round in Kinshasa (1-1), Vahid Halilhodzic qualified the Atlas Lions for the sixth World Cup in its history (1970, 1986, 1994, 1998, 2018, and therefore 2022). In a boiling hot Mohammed-V stadium, Hakimi and his teammates delivered a solid match against the reckless but not very dangerous Congolese.

On a ball badly returned by the Congolese defense, the Angevin Azzedine Ounahi, on a ball badly returned by the Congolese defense, will capsize the hearts of Moroccans by sending a sublime shot curled in first intention from outside the surface leaving Kiassumbua helpless on his left (20th).

Despite the injuries of El-Yamiq and Bounou, stunned after two successive shocks to the head, Tissadouli, already a scorer in the first leg, will double the bet just before half-time by intercepting a bad delivery from Luyindama for his goalkeeper (45 + 7th). Back from the locker room, Vahid Halilhodzic’s men will quickly kill the game before the hour mark thanks to their hero of the evening: Azzedine Ounahi.

In the 55th minute, Tissoudali (again) enters the area and serves the Angevin midfielder, who crosses his shot from the left and thus scores a double (3-0). Achraf Hakimi will participate in the show and will score the fourth Moroccan goal (70th). The sublime reduction in the score of Malango (77th) after a chest-recovery sequence of the right will not change anything. Morocco will therefore see Qatar this winter.

Tunisia qualified after a lackluster match against Mali (0-0)

Tunisia can definitely thank Moussa Sissako. His unfortunate CSC in the first leg allows Tunisia to win its ticket for the World Cup in Qatar (November 18-December 21). At the end of a match with few chances, the Carthage Eagles provided the minimum service at the Hammadi-Agrebi stadium in Radès, sold out for this decisive return barrage.

Despite the return of their captain Hamari Traoré, Mali did not manage to find the fault to deceive Ben Saïd, the Tunisian goalkeeper, even if they thought they opened the scoring through Abdoulaye Diaby (4th) , but the goal was rightly disallowed for an offside position by the Al-Jazeera striker.

Despite possession of the ball (64%), the Eagles of Mali stumbled on the solidity of their opponents like Laïdouni, a symbol of Tunisian resistance and author of several recoveries which did well for his team. Jalel Khadri’s men tried to counter but were never dangerous (only 1 shot on target out of six attempts). The Malians, meanwhile, were far too uninspired to hope for anything tonight.

At the end of a match whose technical level was catastrophic, the Eagles of Carthage will have managed to maintain their short advantage of the first leg and thus win their ticket for the World Cup in Qatar. Tunisia, like Morocco, will participate for the sixth time in the final phase of a World Cup (after those of 1978, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2018, and now 2022).
