The governments of Morocco and Italy signed the Agreement on the mutual recognition of driving licenses for conversion this Wednesday in Rome. This text was signed by Youssef Balla, ambassador of King Mohammed VI to the Italian Republic, and Matteo Salvini, vice-president of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, in the presence of the vice-minister responsible for maritime transport.

During the signing ceremony of this agreement at the headquarters of the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Salvini expressed his admiration for the progress recorded by Morocco and the economic growth in terms of road, rail, and port infrastructure. In this sense, he called for further strengthening of bilateral relations in the field of connectivity, highlighting the investment opportunities offered by the kingdom.

For his part, Youssef Balla underlined that the realization of this agreement reflects the firm and continuous commitment of the Moroccan government, inspired by the instructions of King Mohammed VI and the concern with which the sovereign surrounded the members of the Moroccan community.

He added that this new instrument adds to the legal arsenal which frames the excellent relations of cooperation and partnership between Morocco and Italy in several areas of common interest.

Last January, an episode of the program Bring in the Special Guest Moroccans of the World on Radio 2M, in partnership with Yabiladi, discussed the difficulties that the non-renewal of this agreement has represented until then.

Indeed, holders of Moroccan building permits, professional drivers or not, have been technically unemployed since the reforms carried out in Morocco in 2020 for the new permit. Therefore, they called on the authorities to find a solution to this situation.
