Algeria has officially reacted to the opening of a United Arab Emirates consulate in the occupied Sahrawi city of Laâyoune. Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum recalled on Sunday November 1 that the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) was a member of the African Union (AU) and enjoyed “full sovereignty over its territories”.

The statement by the Algerian official comes in response to the violation of international law in Western Sahara, through the opening of consulates in the territories occupied by Morocco.
In addition, the spokesperson for the UN Secretary General, Stéphane Dujarric declared, Thursday, October 29, that the opening of “consulates” in the occupied Sahrawi territories would not change the position of the international organization vis-à-vis – view of the Sahrawi question. For the United Nations, the Saharawi question is a matter of decolonization, which has been on its agenda since 1963, and the settlement of which involves access for the Saharawi people to their right to self-determination and independence.
Will Morocco normalize its relations with Israel?
