More than 5 Million Tourists Visit Tunisia in 8 Months

The number of tourists coming to Tunisian tourist destinations exceeded five million since the beginning of the year until August 20.

This increases the number of arrivals this season to 17.5 percent, compared to the same period last year.

Tunisian Tourism Minister Selma Elloumi Rekik said that the number of tourists was estimated at 5.1 million.

She added that the European tourism in Tunisia has revived with the rise of German tourists up to 61 percent this year, Russians 34 percent and French 28 percent.

The Tunisian Tourism Ministry published statistics showing that the number of tourists coming from the Maghreb reached 2.4 million this year, an increase of 4.8 percent, compared to last year.

Algerians ranked first among tourists from this region with more than 1.4 million, followed by Libyans with 903,000 – an increase of 9.7 percent compared to 2017.
