Mezzour Meets with the Emirati Minister of Economy

The Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, met, on Thursday in Rabat, with the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Touq Al-Marri, who was accompanied by a delegation of men business.

During this meeting, the two parties discussed the opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the economic and commercial fields as well as the means to be put in place to strengthen and enhance the strategic relations between the two brotherly countries at higher levels of cooperation and integration. 

To this end, Mr. Mezzour highlighted the excellent historical ties between the two countries, stressing that great investment opportunities offered by Morocco as a production and export platform are to be seized. “We have identified an export potential that amounts to 130 million dollars,” he said, noting that the total value of Moroccan exports to the United Arab Emirates reached around 1.2 billion dirhams (MMDH) in 2021.

As for imports, he continued, they amounted to a total of 9.2 billion dirhams during the same year. 

In the same vein, Bin Touq Al Marri praised the anchoring and the solidity of the relations uniting the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Arab Emirates, emphasizing the importance of the economic dimension in the strengthening of these relations, at the service of the common interests of the two countries and the two brotherly peoples. He also underlined the need to discuss ways to develop cooperation and the transfer of experiences and good practices between the two countries, particularly in terms of investment.

It should be recalled that trade relations between Morocco and the United Arab Emirates are governed by a free trade agreement signed in 2001, as well as the Greater Arab Free Trade Area between the member states of the League of Arab States.
