The presence of foreign forces and mercenaries in the country has become a serious concern for the executive, which makes their departure one of its priorities.

The Libyan transitional authorities reiterated their call for the withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign forces from this country by advocating for a timetable to be set by the 5 + 5 Military Committee under the auspices of the UN, in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations. Security Council.

The reunification of the military institution, which was the essential point of a meeting, Sunday, of the first deputy of the President of the Presidential Council in Libya, Moussa al-Kouni, with the commands of the Libyan army in the south of the country, is a top priority for the new unified executive.

“The reunification of the military institution will make it possible to consolidate Libyan unity and sovereignty, two essential conditions for the organization of the next elections on the scheduled date, namely December 24 of the current year,” Moussa said. al-Kouni on his Twitter account. The meeting of the first deputy of the President of the Presidential Council with the commands of the Southern Army is part of a series of meetings initiated by Mohamed al-Manfi, President of the Presidential Council, with the military institution. The reunification of the military institution remains, however, according to the officers of the Libyan army, delicate, in particular, because of the presence of foreign forces and mercenaries in Libya. The director of the department of moral guidance at the Libyan Joint Military Committee (5 + 5),

The withdrawal of the 20,000 combatants between the mercenaries and the foreign forces present in Libya “must be carried out according to a timetable which must henceforth be set by the Joint Military Committee under the aegis of the UN, in accordance with Council resolutions. security ”, pleaded Sunday, the head of Libyan diplomacy, Nadjla al-Mangoush. “We demand the withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign forces from all Libyan regions,” said Ms. al-Mangoush during her visit to the cities of Gatroun and Maâbar al-Toum, in the south of Tripoli, stressing that “the authorities Libyans want to prepare for the next elections away from weapons and violence ”. Ms. al-Mangoush affirms, in this regard, that “the new Libyan authorities are sparing no effort to recover the full sovereignty of the Libyan state”.

However, Turkey, which is concerned by this appeal, said on Sunday that the withdrawal of its troops from Libya “will not be for soon”. Several headlines in the Turkish press noted in this sense that “the presence of Turkish forces in Libya is legal and that the latter was deployed following a formal agreement signed with the former Government of National Unity (GNA ) ”.

By asserting that the withdrawal of Turkish forces from Libya is not a demand of the Libyan government, but that of certain foreign countries which exert pressure on the government, a Turkish media, Hurriet, considers that the call of the head of Nadjla al-Mangoush’s diplomacy at the withdrawal of Turkish foreign forces is the perfect illustration of this.

Also noting that the withdrawal of Turkish forces from Libya will be detrimental to stability in Libya, another media pointed out the presence of Chadian, Syrian and Sudanese mercenaries as a problem.
