Libyan Agreement in Rabat on the Implementation of the Results of the Bouznika Inter-Libyan Dialogue

The speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, and the president of the Libyan High Council of State, Khaled Al-Mishri, agreed on Friday in Rabat to implement the outputs of the inter-Libyan dialogue of Bouznika, bearing on the positions of sovereignty and the unification of the executive power.

Speaking during a joint press briefing held after a meeting with Mr. Al-Mishri, Mr. Aguila indicated that it was agreed to “implement the outputs of the inter-Libyan dialogue of Bouznika relating to the positions of sovereignty in the coming weeks and before the end of December”.

It was also decided “to work for there to be a single executive power in Libya as soon as possible, and to continue the dialogue to do what is necessary to start presidential elections and legislation in accordance with a clear roadmap and legislation on the basis of which the elections will take place in agreement between the two institutions”, he added during this press briefing which took place in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita.

On this occasion, the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives highly praised the role played by King Mohammed VI, who “always watches over the stability of Libya and the preservation of its territory and its unity”, expressing his deep thanks to the Sovereign, to the government and to the brother Moroccan people for their warm welcome and their hospitality.

For his part, Mr. Al-Mishri noted that the “split of the institutions has only exacerbated the crisis and it was imperative to unify them”, stressing that it was agreed to continue the agreement in concerns the measures necessary for the holding of the presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.

The unification of sovereign institutions and the executive power will pave the way for the unfolding of these deadlines as soon as possible, he insisted.
