The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has written to Fifa to notify it that it has settled for the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida for their 2018 World Cup qualifying match against Tunisia on November 11.

The decision of the Libyan FA comes after its option of playing their men’s national team’s home match against the Tunisians at the Ahmed Zabala Stadium in Oran was turned down by the world football governing body.

The rejection of the stadium in Oran was at the instance of the Tunisian Football Federation which felt the facility was not good enough to play host to the World Cup qualifying game next month.

The Tunisian federation asked Fifa to carry out inspection on the facility in Oran and the world football governing after assessing the stadium agreed that it was incapable of playing host to the match.

However, Fifa’s rejection of the Ahmed Zabala Stadium meant the Libyans had to resort to picking the intimidating Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in the southern Algeria city of Blida.

The Blida stadium can comfortably sit 35,000 fans and it is the home of the Algerian men’s national team, Fennecs, who have already played a World Cup qualifying game with Cameroon which ended in a 1-1 draw in early October.

Libya began their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 0-4 defeat at DR Congo but have played most of their internationals away from their country since unrest broke out in 2011.
