Libya: Deputy PM Lafi calls on Turkish companies to return to his country as soon as possible

Abdullah al-Lafi, the vice-chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, said Turkish companies should return to Libya as soon as possible to help restructure his country.

According to a written statement from the press office of the Presidential Council, Vice President of the Presidential Council Lafi met in Tripoli with Kenan Yilmaz, the Turkish ambassador to Libya.

Vice-President Lafi praised Turkey’s role in the political process in Libya and its support in promoting peace and stability. He also invited Turkish companies to his country.

“Turkish companies must come back to Libya as soon as possible to help restructure Libya. In particular, we can benefit from the experience of Turkish companies in the field of electricity”, declared Mr. Lafi.

Ambassador Yilmaz said that a large Turkish ministerial delegation is planning to visit Libya soon to discuss promoting cooperation in various fields.

Yilmaz stressed the depth of historical ties and relations between the two countries, expressing Turkey’s readiness to support national reconciliation in Libya.

Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbiebah accompanied by 5 deputy prime ministers, 14 ministers and the chief of staff arrived in Turkey on April 5.

In the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Prime Minister of the Libyan National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Dbiebah, 5 agreements were signed between the two countries.
