Under the 2020 ranking of country prosperity established by the Legatum Institute, Morocco was ranked 65th out of 167 countries in terms of the investment environment.
The Legatum Institute said: “Morocco has moved up 19 places since 2010, to 65th in terms of investment environment, given the major reforms aimed at strengthening investor protection and intellectual property rights”.
The Kingdom has also risen to 13 places in terms of market access and infrastructure, thanks to a significant improvement in its infrastructure, in particular its competitive mobile phone market, which has boosted access to the Internet from high quality.
The report adds: “Most of the progress has been made in terms of business conditions, where Morocco (61st) has gained 34 places, following the reduction in the time required for companies to comply with the regulations” .
Note, this ranking allows comparison of the relative performance of each country in terms of overall prosperity, which is based on 12 pillars such as health, education and social capital.
As a reminder, the Legatum Institute is an independent think-thank based in London, which has just published the 2020 edition of its “Prosperity index report”, including which Morocco has climbed two places compared to 2019.
