The Tunisian state budget was estimated, according to the 2022 finance law, at 57,291 million dinars with a deficit of 8,548 MD. Finance Minister Sihem Nemsia said that the government was betting on an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to encourage the conclusion of agreements with Tunisia’s partners and other donors in order to obtain funding equal to 12,652  MD.

On the side of the IMF, the permanent representative of this institution in Tunisia, Jérôme Vacher, had indicated that, contrary to the optimistic media declarations of the representatives of the Tunisian authorities, the discussions are only at a preliminary stage.

Tunisia plays the role of the perfect substitute: most of the time on the bench encouraging other countries without daring to talk to the coach about their situation and without knowing how to seize the opportunities that arise in front of them. The coach for his part has better things to do than worry about the whims of a single player! He must manage the whole team and support nuggets and players who openly express difficulties. This is what could be observed on the IMF website during the last quarter.

Thus, the fund approved an agreement with Congo, the Central African Republic, Chad, Niger, and the Union of Comoros between November 2021 and January 2022. The majority of the time on the bottom line to encourage other countries without daring to talk to the coach about her situation and not knowing how to seize the opportunities that arise in front of her. On the other hand, Argentina and Lebanon have started another round of negotiations with the IMF in recent days, but still nothing on the Tunisian side. Successive governments have all played the card of a possible agreement, but without any real impact.
