ICATU “strongly” supports Algeria’s position within ILO

ALGIERS-Secretary General of the International Confederation of Arab Trade Unions (ICATU) Ghassan Ghosn highlighted Tuesday in Algiers the Confederation’s “strong” support to the “fundamental” position of Algeria within the World Labour Organization (ILO).

In a statement to the press following his meeting with the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security Mohamed El Ghazi, and Secretary General of the General Union of Algerian Workers Abdelmadjid Sidi Said, Ghosn said his institution “strongly” supports Algeria’s “fundamental” position within the Board of Directors of the ILO.

The same official stressed the meeting was an opportunity to broach the promotion of employment and the fight against unemployment in the Arab world, and highlight the importance of coordination of efforts to strengthen the production sectors that generate jobs.

Moreover, the situation of Arab and North African workers who have migrated to other countries and whose rights are being violated, added Ghosn, adding that these concerns are submitted to the Arab Labour Organization (ALO) and the ILO.
