In view of the increase in the number of Covid-19 contamination recorded in recent weeks in Algeria, the German authorities have decided to place Algeria, and many other countries on the red list, for travel to Germany.

Germany has classified Algeria as a “high incidence area” of the spread of Covid. From August 8, travellers coming from Algeria will have to observe a quarantine of 10 days if they do not have a health pass. According to the Robert Koch health watch institute (RKI), which established, on Friday, August 6, the ranking of countries according to the incidence rate of Covid-19, travellers from Algeria will have to present proof of vaccination or healing. If the affected person tests negative, the isolation period may however be reduced to five days.

Morocco also classified in Germany’s red list
This measure will come into force on August 8, according to the same source. Along with Algeria, the RKI has classified Morocco, Iraq, Bangladesh, Thailand, Mexico and regions of southern France in this same category. The following French regions and territories are classified as high-risk areas: Occitanie, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, Corsica, and overseas – Guadeloupe, Martinique, Réunion, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy.

Travellers from Algeria, Morocco and the south of France subject to quarantine
For travellers coming from an area with a high incidence rate, such as Algeria, the duration of the quarantine is 10 days. If those concerned test negative, the isolation period may however be reduced to five days. For travellers coming from an area where variants of the virus are circulating, its confinement period is 14 days, the same source said.

The duration of the compulsory quarantine for children under 12
The duration of the mandatory quarantine for children under 12 is 5 days. Travellers from an area with a high incidence rate who are not vaccinated, but recovered after contamination with the coronavirus can reduce the duration of their isolation if they can transmit to the authorities concerned, via the site www.einreiseanmeldung. de, the negative result of a new test carried out no earlier than 5 days after entering the territory.

Any entry into German territory is subject to presentation of health proof
Since Sunday, August 1, 2021, any entry into German territory is subject to the presentation of health proof. On arrival in Germany, persons aged 12 and over must be provided with proof of a negative test, a certificate of recovery or a certificate of vaccination. The negative test must be 72 hours maximum for PCR tests and 48 hours maximum for antigen tests.

People coming from areas where variants of the virus are circulating should provide a negative test result. A certificate of recovery or a vaccination certificate alone is not sufficient. Test results up to 72 hours old for PCR tests and up to 24 hours old for antigen tests are accepted. Test results, certificates of recovery and vaccination certificates must be presented to transport companies prior to travel.
