Gas Field Development Project in the South-West

The CEO of Sonatrach, Rachid Hachichi announced, on Saturday, a project to develop gas fields in the southwest of the country, with a production capacity of 14 million m3 per day, spread over the sites of Hassi Ba Hamou, Hassi Tidjerane, and the Tinerkouk field.

In his speech on the occasion of the celebration of the double anniversary of February 24, in the wilaya of Timimoun, Mr. Hachichi underlined the importance of the gas project which is part of the gas field development project in the South-West region of the country, with an estimated production capacity of 14 million m3 of gas per day, through the sites of Hassi Ba Hamou, Hassi Tidjerane, and the Tinerkouk field.

Mr. Hachichi also underlined, according to the APS, the importance of the celebration of the double anniversary of February 24 which constitutes, he said, an opportunity to remember “the epic which allowed our people to wrest their independence and freedom and consolidate their economic sovereignty.”

For Mr. Hachichi, the decision to nationalize hydrocarbons was “bold” and came “in affirmation of the desire of the Algerian people to recover their sovereignty over their underground wealth”.

Regarding the role played by Sonatrach, the same manager estimated that it is committed to “realizing the dimensions of sustainable development”, which allowed it, he said, to “accomplish great achievements and to occupy the position it has reached today as one of the major oil and gas companies both regionally and internationally.”

The same manager praised, on this occasion, the efforts of all the executives and workers of the Sonatrach group and their commitment to accomplishing the missions assigned to them with dedication, stressing that the work continues with a view to “developing the skills, know-how, as well as human resources, to form strong work teams capable of adapting to future challenges.
