Four Dead Including an Infant in Floods in Tiaret

Floods cause new deaths in Algeria. The tragedy occurred on Wednesday, October 12 in the town of K’sar Chellala in the wilaya of Tiaret.

The floods that affected the Abdelhafid Boussouf district in this town killed four people, including a 20-day-old infant, according to Civil Protection. Two people, aged 34 and 48, were injured in the floods, the same source added.

In the wilaya of Tlemcen, which was also affected by bad weather, two people who were surrounded by the waters were rescued while they were in a car that was swept away by the waters at a place called Oued El Bair in the commune of El Bouihi, according to Civil Protection.

Also in Tlemcen, the floods caused the partial collapse of a bridge on national road 99 (RN99), linking Sidi Djilali to Magoura. Traffic is cut on the RN99 – CW114 section.

Last week, floods killed four people in the east of the country. Three victims were deplored in the wilaya of Ouled Djelal.

The first victim of autumn bad weather this year in Algeria was recorded on Tuesday, October 4 in the wilaya of Bordj Bou Arreridj. The drama took place after the overflow of a wadi in the locality of Medjana. The lifeless body of a man who was swept away by the waters has been found by Civil Protection.
