Algeria has set itself the goal of exporting $7 billion in non-hydrocarbons in 2022, compared to $5 billion in 2021.

On Monday, foreign trade expert Ali Bey Nasri estimated that Algeria is on the right track and is approaching 95% of the target set.

“In terms of non-hydrocarbon exports, we are on a good trajectory”, he said on the airwaves of the radio channel 3, specifying that “Algeria is approaching 95% of the objective set at the start of 2022, which is $7 billion.”

According to Ali Bey Nasri, “towards the end of 2022, we will reach 6 billion 700 million dollars of non-hydrocarbon exports”, predicting that “the trade balance will register a significant surplus compared to last year if we add the 50 billion dollars of the oil exports.

He explained that, to consolidate Algeria’s export potential, “it is urgent to work on logistics, namely the export dimension of the ports. According to him, it is also necessary to “engage in regulatory reforms”.

Illustrating his remarks, Ali Bey Nasri gives the example of cement. “We are currently exporting a semi-finished product, which is clinker. If the regulation allowed cement manufacturers to install crushers outside, we would have 25% added value,” he explained, saying that this measure can also preserve foreign exchange reserves.
