Energy: Jordan Asks Algeria for Its Gas Supply

The Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade, Supply and Labor, Youssef Al-Shamali, revealed during his appearance on the program “60 minutes”, broadcast by Jordanian television, that the government of his country had asked Algeria to be supplied with gas, several media report.

The Jordanian minister confirmed having had promises from the Algerian government to study Jordan’s request,” according to the same source.

Minister Al-Shamali pointed out that the Algerian and Jordanian governments have agreed to cultivate a number of strategic crops such as wheat, barley and oils, explaining that a group of Jordanian investors will visit Algeria in order to to see how the land is used and how the harvest is distributed.

The Jordanian minister confirmed that on March 9 the first Royal Jordanian flights will head to Algeria, after airlines have experienced closures since the Covid-19 pandemic, indicating that the Algerian side will operate a flight from Algeria. Algeria on March 15 to Amman, “with 4 weekly flights between the two countries.
