El-Meniaâ: More than Fifty Participants in the National Tourist Rally

In a statement to APS, the president of the “El-Ghazal Assahraoui” Motor Sports Club, Driss Bensouissi, said that 55 participants, from twelve (12) wilayas, are taking part in the various competitions (motocross, 4×4 vehicles and paragliding), to demonstrate their abilities on the circuits chosen by the organizers.

The objective of this sporting event, he underlined, is to promote domestic tourism in our country and highlight the enormous assets that Algeria conceals, such as the natural landscapes and varied reliefs allowing to organize numerous national and international sports competitions.

“The Club hopes to organize a similar event with a continental or international dimension to highlight the potential of ambitious young Algerians and to discover talented athletes to represent Algeria in international and regional forums,” said the president of “ El-Ghazal Assahraoui.

Kicking off this sporting event, the wali of El-Meniaâ, Mokhtar Benmalek, for his part, affirmed that this competition constituted an opportunity to promote Saharan and domestic tourism.

On the sidelines of this two-day sporting event, a craft exhibition is organized by craftsmen specializing in different trades, with a view to promoting local crafts in the wilaya of El Meniaâ, in the presence of a large public and guests from other wilayas who expressed their admiration for the splendid landscapes of this wilaya as well as for the young champions of motorsports who are able to raise the national colors high during sports meetings international.

The 7th edition of this rally hosted by the wilaya of El Meniaâ takes place as part of a series of activities organized in this wilaya, in the hope of organizing a similar event with an international dimension during future meetings.

The national tourist rally is organized at the initiative of the Wilaya League of Motor Sports and the Club “El-Ghazal Assahraoui” motorsports, in coordination with the Algerian Federation of Motor Sports (FASM), the Directorate of Youth and Sports and that of Tourism and Crafts.
