Egypt and Tunisia Discuss Strengthening Economic and Political Cooperation Relations

Tunisian head of government Najla Bouden met her Egyptian counterpart Moustafa Kemal Madbouli in the capital Tunis, according to a statement from the Tunisian Council of Ministers

Egypt and Tunisia discussed on Friday the consolidation of economic and political cooperation relations between the two countries.

This is what emerges from a meeting between the head of the Tunisian government, Najla Bouden and her Egyptian counterpart, Moustafa Kemal Madbouli, in the capital Tunis, according to a press release from the Tunisian Council of Ministers.

Bouden underlined, during this meeting, the importance of this visit in consolidating bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries, in several fields, as well as in boosting investments in promising sectors.

She also mentioned “the support given to the work of the Tunisian-Egyptian joint commissions and underlined the importance of the cooperation agreements between Tunisia and Egypt in new sectors, the implementation of which is planned soon”, without More details.

For his part, Madbouli expressed the determination of the Egyptian government to boost the relations of cooperation between the two countries, and to raise them to the height of the distinguished political relations between Tunis and Cairo.

The senior Egyptian official stressed the importance of holding the 17th session of the Tunisian-Egyptian Joint High Commission, which represents an opportunity to forge new agreements and memorandums of understanding and boost partnership relations.

The two parties reviewed the recommendations of the work of the Tunisian-Egyptian Economic Forum, including, among other things, support for partnership relations between the various economic actors and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation and partnership frameworks, the statement said.

The Egyptian Prime Minister began on Thursday a two-day official visit to Tunisia – the first since taking office nearly 4 years ago – as part of the work of the 17th session of the Tunisian High Joint Commission -Egyptian which is held on May 12 and 13.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Tunisian Foreign Ministry said that this session will be an opportunity to take stock of the progress of Tunisian-Egyptian cooperation and ways to strengthen the prospects for coordination between the two countries.
