The Embassy of the United States of America in Algeria announced that it had granted a “record” number of visas for Algerians this year as part of the DV Lottery (diversity visa) program.

Indeed, for the 2023 financial year, the United States Embassy has allocated a total of 3,838 diversity visas (Green Card) to Algerian nationals, specifies the American diplomatic representation, stressing that this figure represents “the maximum” authorized visas for any country participating in the DV Lottery.

The last batch of diversity visas (fiscal year 2023) was issued to Algerians on August 29, according to the Embassy of the United States of America.

The same source recalls that during the 2022 financial year, 2,300 diversity visas were allocated to Algerians, and before the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2019, 1,624 visas were issued.

The DV Lottery is a U.S. government initiative that allows nationals of eligible countries to enter a drawing for a diversity visa. This visa offers winners the opportunity to live and work legally in the United States.

For the new session of the DV Lottery 2025, registrations will begin from October 2023 and will last until November of the same year. The results will be announced in May 2024.

To register for the DV Lottery program, candidates must have a Baccalaureate or equivalent diploma, or two years of work experience. Registrations are done electronically only, on the US government website dvprogram.state.gov.
