Cuban First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs to Visit SADR

Algiers, May 8 (Prensa Latina) Cuban First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marcelino Medina González, affirmed today his country”s firm position with the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) during a visit to the Sahrawi refugee camps.

He also expressed Cuba’s support for the struggle of the Saharawi people and its right to self-determination and independence and met with the Sahrawi Foreign Minister, Mohamed Salem Uld Salek.

The Cuban deputy minister also met with the Sahrawi ministers of Health, Education and the Minister of State for Security, and met with Cuban health and education workers who provide their services in refugee camps, according to a tweet posted by the official.

In his tweet, he informed that one of the centers he visited was the Simón Bolívar school for secondary and pre-university students.

Hundreds of Sahrawis have completed university studies in Medicine and other specialties in Cuba.

As part of his tour of the region, Medina met last weekend in this capital with the Minister of State, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Algeria, Ramtane Lamamra.

Both reviewed the historical and excellent political, economic, commercial and cooperation relations between both countries, particularly in the health and energy sector, according to a Cuban diplomatic source.
