Crisis between Qatar and its neighbours: Qatari FM hails Algeria’s “honourable” position

Qatari Foreign Minister Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi hailed Thursday Algeria’s “honourable” position regarding the crisis between his country and its Gulf neighbours, notably through its call for privileging dialogue.

“The position of Algeria is honorable, it is the first country to have issued a communiqué calling for dialogue and this is what we are working with many countries in the region,” the Qatari minister said. A statement to the press after his talks with Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel.

“Algeria as a major country in the Arab world can play a role in inter-Arab relations through its influence in the region,” the Qatari minister added.

In the same context, the head of the Qatari diplomacy said that the objective of his visit to Algeria was “an examination of the bilateral relations and the latest developments in the Gulf between our country and Saudi Arabia, the Arab Emirates United States and Bahrain “.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a communiqué at the outset of the crisis between Qatar and its neighbors, in which it stated that Algeria “is following with great concern the deterioration of relations between certain Gulf countries and Region and their repercussions on the unity and solidarity of the Arab world “.

It also called on “all the countries concerned to adopt dialogue as the only means of resolving their differences and transcending the divergences which may naturally arise in relations between States”, stressing the need to “observe, in all Circumstances, the principles of good neighborliness, non-interference in the internal affairs of States and respect for their national sovereignty “.

Algeria affirmed that it “remains confident that the current difficulties can only be temporary and that wisdom and restraint will prevail so much the real challenges that stand in front of the march of the Arab countries and peoples towards an active solidarity And an effective unity are many whose terrorism is not the least “.
