The new Adient Automotive Seating Morocco plant, which strengthens the ecosystem of automotive suppliers, was inaugurated on Wednesday in Kenitra with 600 jobs and a projection of more than 1,300 jobs by 2025.

Built for an investment of 72 million dirhams, the factory was inaugurated by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour. The unit specializes in the manufacture of covers for automobile seats.

It was built in the Kenitra Industrial Acceleration Zone (Atlantic Free Zone) on a total area of ​​25,000 m², including 10,000 m² built and a planned extension of 6,500 m².

Sales of Adient Automotive Seating Maroc currently amount to 24 million dollars, equipping more than 250,000 vehicles annually, in particular the brands of the PSA group, while the short-term objective is to reach 100 million dollars. and equipping 750,000 vehicles by 2025.

“Thanks to the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, Morocco has acquired an industrial automotive base whose competitiveness now makes it a sure growth and export relay for world leaders,” said Ryad Mezzour during the ceremony, marked by the presence of the head of the EMEA division, Michel Berthelin, and the general manager, Mohamed Al Fatine, local authorities and industrialists from the Kenitra free zone.

And to add that this new investment by Adient gives an eloquent example. “By strengthening its presence in Morocco, the group is also strengthening its leading position on the local market while becoming an important export platform to the automotive market in southern Europe. This further consolidates the Moroccan automotive value chain and creates the Adient ecosystem by making it possible to locate the group’s suppliers and increase the integration rate and great prospects for creating stable and quality employment opportunities for our young people,” said Mr. Mezzour.

Adient moved to Morocco in 2018 with the inauguration of its first factory in the Atlantic Free Zone (AFZ), with an area of ​​8,500 m², out of a total of 18,000 m², requiring an investment of 150 million dirhams and employing 245 people.

With a 33% share of the world market, the group produces 20 million seats per year, i.e. one in three seats sold worldwide is an Adient product, and employs 80,000 people in 208 production units located in 33 countries.
