The General Directorate of Consular Affairs and the National Community Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a note to the Algerian diplomatic representations in France and Turkey asking them to issue entry permits, on an exceptional basis, in Algeria, for two categories of Algerian citizens stranded in these two countries. These two categories of citizens will have to join the national territory on board foreign companies.
In the note in question, the Directorate General of Consular Affairs instructed diplomatic representations to “issue entry permits, on an exceptional basis, for the benefit of citizens stranded in France and Turkey wishing to join the national territory by foreign companies ”.
Regarding the two categories of people concerned, the note, taken up by the specialized site Visa Voyages Algeria, specified that “these are citizens who have to accompany the mortal remains of their close relatives (ascendants, descendants, and collaterals) within the limit of four people ”.
They are also citizens benefiting from the exit and return authorizations issued by the services of the Prime Minister or the Ministry of the Interior for medical reasons and who have completed their period of treatment.
According to the Algerian civil aviation authority, foreign companies have been authorized for several days to transport passengers to Algeria. Indeed, at the end of March, the Directorate of Civil Aviation sent a letter to foreign companies, in which it is stated: “Please note that only persons holding an exceptional authorization issued by the competent Algerian authorities are authorized. to travel to Algeria ”.
Note that for the moment, only the airlines Air France and Turkish Airlines have announced the resumption of their special flights to Algeria. The national airline company Air Algeria still maintains the suspension of its international flights, in particular those dedicated to repatriation.
In a press release made public at the end of March, Air Algérie informed that “an adapted program” is made available to its customers in anticipation of the reopening of borders. The company specified that the recovery nevertheless remains dependent on the decision of the public authorities.
“All destinations are maintained and their resumption dates depend on the decision of the public authorities to open the borders. The countries of destination are also concerned by the modalities on their territories ”, indicated Air Algérie.
