The Andalusian Council made by Monday, for the need to review the trade agreements signed between the European Union (EU) and third countries including Morocco in order to fill “the comparative disadvantages” of Andalusian producers.

The Andalusian Minister asked the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development, Carmen Crespo, to study with Brussels the possibility of reviewing these agreements with third countries including Morocco, which are “Detrimental to the interests of Spanish producers and Andalusians in particular”. In this perspective, Crespo told the Advisory Council on Agricultural Policy for Community Affairs, during the session which took place on Monday by videoconference, that the agreements currently in force “are null and void and no longer have their raison d’être”.

“It is necessary to defend in Europe the negotiation of agreements with third countries and to control the quotas established in the agreements … If the established conditions are not met, the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) must be informed”, insists Crespo who recalls that she is working to “try to put an end to the Russian vetoes”, in response to the joint complaint of Murcia and Andalusia.

In addition, Crespo demanded flexibility and economic resources for farmers and breeders within the framework of the new European economic policy. Otherwise, “it will be very difficult to achieve the environmental ambition of the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)”, she warns.
