A 15-year-old girl was shot and killed early Sunday evening in the Saint-Léonard borough. A 21-year-old man was also shot in his upper body and taken to a hospital, but his life is not in danger.

The shooting took place at around 6 p.m. on rue Valdombre, near rue Jean-Talon Est. The victim was seated as a passenger in a parked vehicle. The two occupants of the car were talking to three men who were on the sidewalk.

It was then that two masked suspects reportedly fired as they drove in a pale car. They would then have fled west on Jean-Talon Street.

The teenager was taken to hospital in critical condition. She succumbed to her injuries Monday morning. The other victim, one of the young men on the sidewalk, fled after being hit by a projectile. He was found on rue du Côme.

We do not know the motive of the attackers. The victims would not be known to the police community.

An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of this event.

This is the fifth homicide to have occurred on the territory of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) since the beginning of the year. This is the second weekend in a row that shootings have broken out in the eastern part of the metropolis.
