Algerie Ferries Ship: Photos That Speak Volumes

Damaged facilities, clogged toilets, poor hygiene… here is another damning testimony from an Algerian passenger on an Algeria Ferries ship.

Travel conditions for Algerians are not always up to par, especially considering the exorbitant ticket prices.

Feedback from Algerian passengers on the ships of the companies serving the country diverges. While some testimonies on the condition of the ships are rather positive, most are overwhelming, and this concerns the two companies serving the country, namely Algérie Ferries and Corsica Linea.

Corsica Linea: water leaks in the Mediterranean

Indeed, the negative testimonies on the services and the condition of the ships do not only concern Algérie Ferries. The French company Corsica Linea is also the subject of very negative feedback from Algerian passengers.

The Méditerrané, a Corsica Linea ship often criticized for its dilapidation, still has the problem of  water leaks inside. In a post published Friday, July 22 on Facebook, a passenger estimated “that this boat will end up like the Titanic”. For him, in the event of a storm, “this boat will sink”.

Supporting evidence, the passenger accompanied his testimony with a video, in which we clearly see huge water leaks in a corridor and even inside a cabin. The flow of water is very important, hence his apprehensions about a probable disaster.

Algeria Ferries: the overwhelming observation of a passenger on board the El Djazair 2 ferry

Certainly, Algerian passengers see all the colors on the ships of the two companies serving the country. The quality of the services and the general state of the installations and equipment hardly reflect the prices of the tickets considered to be excessively expensive.

This Sunday, July 24, a passenger shared his experience on board the Algeria Ferries ship, El Djazair 2, during a return crossing to France. Disgusted and discouraged by the state of the ship, this passenger decided not to travel to Algeria anymore. “It’s the last time I’m going to Algeria,” he said.

The photos taken on board the ship, published on Facebook, perfectly illustrate his words. Inside his cabin, hygiene is sorely lacking. Stains cover the floor, which proves that the usual cleaning at each landing was not done correctly. Garbage also litters the aisles.

Passenger from Algeria Ferries: However, “I paid 2000 €”

As for the electrical installations on this Algeria Ferries ship, nothing is visibly working. Lamps are broken or detached from their locations and hung. A lighting installation is completely rusted and devoid of the front glass, leaving the neon lamps unsecured.

The toilet in the passenger cabin is clogged or perhaps the toilet is not flushing because the bowl is not flushed after use according to the photo he shared. However, “I paid €2,000 to be in a cabin where even a dog wouldn’t stay there!”, he denounces.

The passenger also raised the issue of jostling when boarding. According to him, some passengers still use “bribery to overtake everyone in the car queues to get on the boat”.
