Nordine Ait Hamouda will leave El Harrach prison this Sunday, August 29, 2021, on bail, says his lawyer to the French-language newspaper Liberté.

Thus, one of the defense lawyers of the former deputy, Kader Houali affirmed: “after we submitted a request for provisional release, Mr Dekkal Soufiane, Mr Goutal Amine and I before the examining magistrate of Sidi Mhammed he (Nourdine Ait Hamouda) will be released soon ”.

The former deputy had been arrested in Béjaïa, and placed under a committal warrant on June 26, 2021, he is being prosecuted for “attacking the symbols of the nation and the revolution, insulting a former president and inciting hatred and racial discrimination ”.

His arrest follows his latest media outlets in which he spoke of the historical journey of Emir Abdelkader, whom he described as a “traitor”. “Everyone knows that Emir Abdelkader surrendered to France. All of his children, grandchildren and widow received pensions from the French state. He himself received the Legion of Honor from the French state. All this is more than enough to know that Emir Abdelkader is a traitor, “the former deputy blurted out in an interview with El Hayat television channel. Words that raised an outcry in Algeria.

In the wake of the controversy, the El Hayat TV channel was suspended for a week. Complaints have also been filed against Colonel Amirouche’s son. Also, the day after the ex-deputy’s statements, the Mojahedin ministry threatened to resort to justice in the event of “insulting or attacking symbols of national history”.
