Algeria: Mr. Zeghdar Receives the Portuguese Secretary of State for International Trade and Foreign Investments

The Minister of Industry, Ahmed Zaghdar received on Thursday in Algiers the Portuguese Secretary of State for International Trade and Foreign Investments, Mr. Bernardo Ivo Cruz, with whom he examined the means of developing cooperation and economic partnership between both countries, said a statement from the ministry.

The interview, which took place at the ministry’s headquarters, focused on “the business climate in Algeria, particularly with regard to the new investment law,” the statement added.

The meeting made it possible to review the main guarantees and advantages granted by the new law to foreign investors, and to discuss the simplification of investment procedures as well as the means and preferential advantages available to Algeria through its geostrategic situation, its natural and human potential and its economic partnerships.

Mr. Zaghdar affirmed Algeria’s will to promote and strengthen partnership and investment relations between Algeria and Portugal, calling on Portuguese investors to come and invest in Algeria.

For his part, the Portuguese diplomat called for the intensification of contacts between the two parties and the organization of business forums between the economic operators of the two countries to examine and define the opportunities for partnership and fruitful investment, concludes the press release.
