Algeria is the guest of honor, along with five other African countries, at the second China-Africa economic and trade exhibition which opened on Sunday in Changsha, capital of the central province of Hunan in China.

Algeria, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, and Senegal are the guest countries of honor at this four-day event, which is held under the theme: “New start, new opportunities, and new achievements”.

During the opening ceremony held by videoconference, Chinese leaders reaffirmed the readiness of their country’s companies to forge economic partnerships with African countries in order to build a “solid” economic base according to the “win-win” principle.

They reiterated the will of the Chinese side to deepen trade with Africa and further strengthen bilateral cooperation while calling on African operators to seize the opportunities offered by the Chinese market.

Sino-African cooperation in industrial sectors must be “strengthened” and accompanied by densification of partnerships in new areas such as the digital economy and the training of human resources, they stressed.

According to the 2021 report on China-Africa economic and trade relations released on the occasion of the event, the volume of trade between China and Africa reached $139.1 billion.

Thus, China remains Africa’s “biggest partner” for the 12th consecutive year.

According to the organizers, more than 900 companies from around 40 African countries and China are participating in the exhibition which brings together products from African brands, covering a total area of 94,000 meters.
