NEW YORK โ Algeria on Thursday has been brilliantly elected to the United Nations International Law Commission (ILC) for a new five-year term.
Algeria, which was vying for one of the eight ILC seats reserved for Africa, received 160 votes during the election of the 34 members of the Geneva-based body, which works on developing and codifying international law.
It is a sign of the international community’s great confidence in Algeria, particularly in view of its contribution to the development of international law.
