Algeria Asserts Itself in the Luxury Hotel Industry by Relying on Qatar

Algeria has already laid down important milestones in high-end tourism and this was with the arrival of the Emirati hotel chain Rotana, but with the framework agreement it has just initialed with Qatar, the country is targeting another customer base.

New ambitions

The agreement was signed during the visit earlier this week of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatari company Retaj Hotels and Hospitality, Sheikh Nayef Bin Eid Al Thani. He has other responsibilities that weigh in the balance of decisions: he is also vice-president of the Board of Directors of the Arab Tourism Development Fund and a member of the Qatari Hotel Association (QHA). The real estate company has a wide range of hotels and four of them appeared in the ranking of the best hotels managed in compliance with Sharia published by the magazine Gulf News Journal in September 2015.

The purpose of this agreement is to boost cooperation and investment in hotel management and tourism infrastructure. This agreement, the first of a long series, focuses on ” the mobilization of the necessary investments to promote Algerian hotel units in accordance with international standards and improve the quality of services in this area”, reports Anadolu Agency.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Qatari company Retaj will take over 73 hotels belonging to the Algerian public hotel group HTT, which operates throughout the territory. These acquisitions come after courtesy visits, notably to Tipasa-Village, which allowed Sheikh Nayef Bin Eid Al Thani and his delegation to have a better idea of ​​Algerian tourist complexes.

The Algerian Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Yacine Hamadi, who presided over the signing ceremony, stressed ” the imperative to promote the management of hotels under the group and to improve services within hotel units. to attract tourists”, raises Tunisie Numérique.

“Other conventions and contracts will be concluded in the future between the two countries to raise the level of bilateral relations in various fields, particularly in the tourism sector”, announced the minister, who insists on the need to take advantage of the expertise and colossal resources of the hotel industry in Qatar.

Sheikh Nayef Bin Eid Al Thani also had a working meeting with Algerian Trade Minister Kamel Rezig. There was talk of ways and means to boost trade between Algeria and Qatar as well as niches for Qatari investors who are eyeing Algeria.
