Air traffic at Morocco airports up 11.2 pct in Jan.-April

The number of passengers traveling through Moroccan airports reached 7.9 million in the first four months of 2019, up 11.2 percent year on year, the Moroccan Airports Authority (ONDA) said Tuesday.

Morocco’s biggest airport, Casablanca international airport, received 3.2 million passengers, over 40 percent of total air traffic between January and April, ONDA said in a statement.

The number of passengers passing through the airports of tourist hubs of Marrakech and Agadir increased by 21.6 percent and 11.2 percent, respectively.

In April alone, over 2.3 million people traveled through Moroccan airports, an increase of 14.6 percent compared with the same month last year, according to ONDA.

In 2018, the number of passengers at Moroccan airports hit a record of 22.5 million, a 10.4-percent increase year on year.
