Air Algérie: A Strong Comeback to France

At last! The new Air Algérie flight program, long-awaited by the Algerian community abroad, has been announced. After two cancellations followed by a cacophony and rumors, this time should be the right one.

The announcement of an increase in the number of Air Algérie flights was made this Monday, March 28 by the Ministry of Transport. It comes the day after the official start of the summer season in air transport.

A total of 64 new weekly flights have been added to Air Algérie’s current schedule. According to the principle of reciprocity, foreign airlines will benefit from the same number of flights granted to  Air Algérie. The new program will come into effect tomorrow, Tuesday, March 29.

Air Algérie: France is the main beneficiary of the new program

No new Algerian airports have been added to the program. Indeed, international flights will only take place from Algiers, Oran, and Constantine.

Abroad, France, home to the largest Algerian community abroad, takes the lion’s share of Air Algerie’s new schedule, both in terms of the number of flights added and the airports served.

As of June 2021, Air Algérie served three airports in France: Paris Orly, Roissy Charles de Gaulle, and Marseille. The two Paris airports are seeing their flight quotas increase by 19 per week. Air Algérie will be responsible for distributing the flights between Orly and Roissy. From now on, 42 flights per week will be provided by Air Algérie to Paris.

Air Algérie: four new French airports served

The increase to Marseille is more modest, with two additional flights per week, which will bring the total to 3 weekly rotations.

The new program marks the strong return of Air Algérie to France, with the addition of four new airports to the program: Lyon, Toulouse, Nice, and Lille, according to the following program:

Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport:

7 Algiers-Lyon-Algiers flights.

3 Oran-Lyon-Oran flights.

3 Constantine-Lyon-Constantine flights.

Toulouse-Blagnac Airport:

2 flights Algiers-Toulouse-Algiers.

3 Oran-Toulouse-Oran flights.

Nice Côte d’Azur Airport:

2 flights Algiers-Nice-Algiers.

Lille-Lesquin Airport:

4 flights Algiers-Lille-Algiers
