A medical-surgical team from the National Oncology Institute (INO) successfully performed surgery to give a patient a new liver from a living donor. A first in Morocco.

The transplant was performed on March 29 on a 62-year-old woman, said a press release from INO, specifying that the surgery was carried out jointly by Moroccan specialists and those from the Hepato-Biliary Center of the Hospital. Paul Brousse (Villejuif, France), reports MAP .

Coming out of the operation which lasted twelve hours, the French team congratulated Morocco for its technical platform, saluting the medical equipment available to INO, which can help achieve feats in the field of health.

This cooperation is part of an original program of transfer of expertise and empowerment in the field of liver transplantation linking Moroccan and French hospitals.
