The Debdeb-Ghadames land border post between Algeria and Libya will soon be reopened for the transport of goods, Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum said on Saturday, May 29.

“Algeria is in the process of completing the final logistical and technical preparations, in order to open this crossing point in coordination with the Libyan side”, said the minister in his speech at the Algerian-Libyan Economic Forum, open Saturday at the Hotel Aurassi in Algiers.

“The two parties are working to complete the final talks for the reopening of the maritime line linking Tripoli and Algiers with a view to using it in the transport of goods”, added the same official according to the APS.

“Algeria’s ambition for the desired economic partnership with Libya is not limited to increasing the volume of trade, but rather to encouraging the flow of mutual direct investment, setting up joint ventures and participating in the capital of companies, in addition to other mechanisms able to guarantee the optimal use of the great opportunities for cooperation between our two countries,” he said, adding that a series of measures have been taken by the Algerian authorities to accomplish this.
