The secretary general of the trade union center Noureddine Taboubi, indicated that the administrative commission of the UGTT never intervenes in the choices of its militants

The secretary general of the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT) Noureddine Taboubi indicated on Thursday that the trade union center had not called for a boycott of the legislative elections of December 17.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the periodic meeting of the executive office of the regional union of Sfax, Taboubi specified that “since the referendum of July 25, the administrative commission of the UGTT has decided not to intervene in the choice of its activists, convinced of the importance of diversity in political choices,” reported the Tunis Afrique Presse agency (TAP/official).

Regarding the problem of waste management and the tensions recorded in the governorate of Sfax, Taboubi affirmed that ”this file will be discussed before the national executive office”.

According to him, the economic crisis that the country is going through, in particular, “the deterioration of the purchasing power of the citizen, the absence of development and the blocking of various projects”, will not be resolved during the ministerial council, but rather in establishing dialogue, TAP reported.
