Tourism revenue increased by 10.6% in Morocco during the first four months of 2024, recording a value of $3.2 billion.

The Ministry of Tourism explains – in a press release yesterday Monday – that these indicators “reflect the increasingly dynamic performance of Moroccan tourism” (which improves growth prospects for the end of the year).

Quoted in the document, Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor said: “The recovery in tourism revenues was expected given the number of arrivals. Which shows that the country remains a privileged destination, capable of generating significant income. »

Ms. Ammor added that the Kingdom will continue to enrich its tourism offer, in particular by diversifying recreational activities, to achieve the objective of 120 billion dirhams ($12 billion) by 2026 .

She added that tourism is a fundamental pillar of the economy, which is why efforts are being made to further strengthen its contribution. Tourism is experiencing continuous development. Especially after the sector’s revenues exceeded $10 billion for the first time in 2023. The country welcomed 14.5 million tourists.

Tourism was the second source of foreign currency in Morocco in 2023, behind remittances from Moroccans living abroad (MRE) which amount to around $11.5 billion. This is again what emerges from data from the Kingdom’s exchange office.
