Seven Dead and Six Injured in a Pile-up in Oran

New drama on Algerian roads. In Oran, seven people were killed and six others were injured in a road accident, the National Gendarmerie said.

According to the infotraficalgerie page, the accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. this Sunday on the way to wilaya (CW) 84 near the Cap Falcon gas station in Ain Turk, on the west coast of Oran. It is a pileup involving six cars, according to the same source.

The day before, another carnage was narrowly avoided in Oran where 20 people were injured after the skid of the bus transporting them near the headquarters of the wilaya. The accident took place around 6:27 pm, according to Civil Protection. The urban passenger transport bus ended its race against a palm tree.

The injured people, including ten women, are between 21 and 64 years old. 15 injured were transferred to the emergency services of the University Hospital of Oran and five others received treatment on the spot from elements of the Civil Protection and were able to return home.

The reasons for this accident have not been revealed, but the Civil Protection has appealed to motorists, particularly bus drivers, to respect the highway code, to avoid dangerous overtaking and excessive speed in urban areas.

On the east-west highway, another accident involving a passenger transport bus and a truck took place this Sunday morning in Larbatache, according to the national gendarmerie, which did not specify whether there were any victims. Still, on the east-west highway, another accident occurred at the level of the descent from Djebahia (direction Bouira – Algiers), causing one death, according to the national gendarmerie.  

On Friday, a father and his three children were killed in a collision between a car and a utility vehicle on National Road No. 6 in Saida.
