Morocco Is the Leading Supplier of Fruit and Vegetables to Spain

Morocco is the country that generates the most revenue by selling fruits, vegetables, and legumes to Spain since it dethroned the United States in 2020 according to data compiled by Hortoinfo from the Estacom statistical service. (Icex-Agencia Tributaria), using the codes of the Integrated Tariff of the European Communities (TARIC) and considering the period from January to November of each year.

Over the last ten years, from January to November 2013 to 2022, Morocco has increased its income from selling these products to Spain by 360%, from 193.11 million euros in the months mentioned in 2013 to 888.25 million euros in 2022, an increase of 695.14 million euros.

Over the past decade, the volume of fruits, vegetables, and legumes sold by Morocco to Spain has increased by 191.57%, from 180.19 million kilos sold in 2013 to 525.39 million in 2022, an increase of 345.20 million kilos. The average price in 2022 was 1.69 euros per kilo.

The United States is the second country in terms of the value of fruit, vegetables, and legumes sold to Spain, with a value between January and November 2022 of 617.31 million euros and a volume of 152.78 million kilos, at an average price of 4.04 euros per kilo.

France is the third country that generates the most revenue by selling these products to Spain, although it remains the first in terms of volume. In 2022, the income obtained by France in its exports of fruit, vegetables, and legumes to Spain was 417.7 million euros, for a volume of 1,010.32 million kilos.
